(Gen. 1:26) An image is a picture, a visible representation corresponding to the one who made it; like an image in a mirror. A likeness is something that is made like something else or a copy of another, or resembling another. When God said that He made us in his image and likeness that means, as you say, we resemble Him, visibly and and characteristically. He made us to represent Him in the world we live in. ( It is a serious matter to be an image bearer for Christ. ) Those who kill what God has created are in effect killing the image and likeness of God himself. Humanistic man believes that no intelligent designer or God created man, but we evolved somehow. That is a lie straight from the pit and Satan himself in order that he may destroy all that God has made. These image killers rationalize and find comfort in their own wisdom apart from God. God is not mocked! He knows what the enemy is doing and who is being deceived. He will judge those who take the life that He has given. You're right! The enemy of God is determined to destroy all potential image bearers even before they are born! We need to expose the lie and stay the enemy's hand. I heard the Lord say to me, " Because you have done nothing to stop this violence against the unborn, you have done everything to allow it to occur." Wow! a sobering indictment. This subject has been so on my mind and I recently wrote a blurb about potential image bearers being destroyed in a silent holocaust. Thank you for lsitening.
